I write this from the Houston Intercontinental airport, heading home for Sunday after being with our tour group last night at the South Texas Revival Conference in San Antonio. Erma is with me. She helped with our presentation last night, introducing several of of the children and having them testify. We closed our program by showing our new 5-minute promotional DVD, “I Give You My Heart.” This DVD is available for viewing in our Media Center at www.tcmm.org. You’ll want to check it out.
Our flight has been delayed due to weather, so I thought this would be a good time to catch up on my blogging. It’s going to be a late night arrival into MemphiKen Burton with Kids Tours and then a 90 mile drive to Tupelo. I have a guest preacher in the morning at Life Church. Stan Cook is going to be with us in service. Stan and his wife, Cheryl, travel as Field Reps for the Mansion and are great ambassadors for the cause.
This is the time of year when we travel quite a bit. The Kids Tour has been out on the road now for two weeks. This select group of Mansion children will be involved in 14 church conferences and campmeetings this summer, as well as a number of local church promotional services. Erma and I are planning to meet up with the group at seven of those appearances. Last night was one of those special times to be with the kids. We were able to have some fun with them today before heading to the airport. They will be in College Station and Euless, Texas for services tomorrow. (The photo to the left is of Ken Burton, TCMM Vice-President, with the children before they left on tour.)
Jason and Amber Kear, our field reps, are heading up the summer tour. Last week, the group was in Lufkin, Texas at a large campmeeting gathering. They had 30 minutes during the service to sing and share their testimonies. After the presentation, the children were invited to walk through the crowd handing out sponsorship forms. An offering in the amount of $9,700 was received and several hundred dollars per month was pledged in sponsorships. Special thanks to Bro. D. R. Russo, District Superintendent, for pulling for a very generous offering.
A week ago Friday night, I was at a Canadian Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This was a wonderful opportunity to present the Mansion. People were gathered there from as far away as British Columbia to the west and Newfoundland to the east. A number of our Canadian friends pledged their financial support to TCMM. One pastor from northern Ontario requested a copy of the DVD that was shown during the service in order that he could present it to his congregation and raise Special Kid Sponsorships.
With the focus of this blog being about summer promotional travel, I want to ask you to pray for our tour group as they travel this summer. Specifically, I’m asking you to pray for three things: 1) That the Lord would keep His hand of protection upon the group as they travel, 2) That the children would be a great blessing wherever they go, and 3) That God’s people everywhere would open their hearts of compassion toward this ministry.

For my Monday blog, I am going to give the latest update regarding new placements at the Mansion. Children have been arriving nearly every week during the past several months. I’ll share with you some of their stories. Stay tuned…
